Cave diving - Florida

Eagles Nest and Dipeolder
- serious fun -

Eagle's nest is not a just-for-fun-dive. One will explore a remote cave, in the middle of the Chassahowitza Wildlife Management Area.
The nest, a small pond, is not a really invitable place. And it is deep - you find depths more than 300 ft. We made two dives, one shallower to become familiar with the nest, the second was our planned 16/45- trimix dive to the super room.

The cave is more than impressive - it is huge. Enough, to get lost, when silting and the guide line too far to reach.

Eagles nest should not be taken lightly- but it is a great dive - we will be back... ;-)...

more information, maps etc. are provided here

Diepolder - close to the nest and of equal rank.
Diepolder are two separated caves, measureless in dimensionens, deep and just impressive.
The caves are located at the Sandy Hill Boy Scout property. You will need a guide, to dive there.
First dives will be always in Diepolder III to experience the dimensions.

The Diepolder III opens up underneath a pond in about 160 ft an is accesed through a sloping shaft. What you will find is huge. Our HIDs were like dim lights, the light beam just got lost in endless crystal clear water...
Following the main line along the walls, it will take about 20 min to make the circle. From the farmost point at the opposite wall of the entrance, you still see your marker flash light- from a distance more than 200 ft
Giant oversized boulders covering the ground in 260 ft...
