Spain July 2009 - an exiting visit at the spanish speleological karst area

Pozo Azul, Fuente Azul und Cueva Piscarciano- our first step into an amazing new area for us!

Thanks to our friend Roberto F. García! Without his help, this trip wouldn't be happen! >Muchas gracias y un Saludos a Madrid y Burgos!

  • Water temerature is aprox. 10 to 14 degree Celsius. So bring your dry suit ;)

  • Most of the caves don`t have much current.

  • We could go down to a max. depth of 45 meter.

  • Deeper sections require more sufficient gas logistics...

  • average dive time was aprox. 80 minutes, we really need scooters :)

  • You need to be in a good shape- the cave entrances are never close to the parking lot!

  • There is absolutely no dive center around- you need to bring all your own stuff, incl. compressor and weight...

  • Next time we will be better prepared- smaller cylinders for the sidemount caves, smaller car to sneak trough the narrow villages.
  • Pozo Azul

We spent time there in 2009- while the Pozo Azul became 2 km more of mesured galeries. But now, 2010 there is a new recaord!

British-led dive team break record with 8.8km cave dive. Explorers Jason Mallinson, Rick Stanton and John Volanthen, along with Dutch caver Rene Houben, charted new territory in a 50-hour voyage which saw them spend two nights camped deep underground.

Congratulation to the explorers and all the support team!
