Cave Diving Australia

Engelbrecht West- just a must for a real cave diver!

Location: In the middle of Mount Gambier...

Maximum depth: ~15 meter

Certification level CDAA: Penetration for western cave

Accessibility/ Entrance: moderate, long way down to the water. Exhausting walk...
Increased gravitaion has been reported at the table in front of the entrance - especially for HID bulbs :-(
and - YES- I WAS CAREFUL !

Permission: Lady Nelson Visitor Center Mt. Gambier

Time Slot: please ask at the Lady Nelson

Cave Structure: The Mainline starts at the surface- if you ever squeeze yourself down!
Long tunnel into an air chamber, followed by the "real" cave.
No permanent line, bring a long reel. Good for sidemount.
Due to further drop of the water table, the way to the second sump with the cave goes straight over the mound... Have a nice walk! Reflectors at the ground guide you a good way...

Our Dive: Following the main line in the first sump to the air chamber. We followed the water until we were forced to get out and crossed the mound (ab. 50 m walk, up and down...) Entering the water again we used a primary reel to follow the long tunnel to the end, had a look into the small air chamber and - back it goes...
